TAKE ACTION
Stop the City Council From Raising Your Delivery Costs
As New Yorkers, we rely on affordable package delivery to manage everyday life.

We are older adults receiving medicine, parents ordering diapers, and everyday residents who rely on deliveries to help make life possible. In total, one in three New Yorkers receives a package every week.

But right now, the City Council is considering Intro 0518-2026, a bill that could increase annual delivery costs by more than $600.

That’s not okay. New Yorkers want local officials focused on keeping online ordering costs down. In a recent poll, 63% said this issue is “very important,” while 95% said it is “very” or “somewhat important.”

There’s already an affordability crisis in New York City, and the last thing working families need is higher costs for the everyday essentials we rely on.

Intro 518 – by upending the last-mile delivery system – would raise our costs. But the impacts go further:

  • 10,000 delivery jobs at risk — That’s up to 20% of New York City’s last-mile delivery industry jobs that could leave the City
  • Reduced flexibility and choice for delivery workers as small businesses are squeezed out and only large corporations remain
  • Slower delivery of medications and essential goods
  • Increased traffic and pollution by pushing more trucks onto NYC streets
We stand for workers and affordable access to essential goods. We urge the New York City Council to oppose Intro 518 to keep New York City affordable.
